One of these days...

A good friend of mine was relating to me an incident which really probe my thinking skills and reasoning skill last night. Well it was about quality of life. Well my uncle has also emphasis to me to lead a quality life. Well some of it has someway rub on. Well quality of life means doing things and also living life to the fullest. Well let me relate the incident and let you decide what is it about and how you can relate it with your life...

Gopal was a very carefully with his wealth and could be considered at stingy. Well he had his reason as he was always thinking of his 3 sons. He wanted to give the best to his sons and things that he never got when he was young. To do this he worked very hard and had two and sometimes even three jobs. Well his sons were very thankful towards their father and his sacrifice. Like all young guys, once they have had good education and were able to stand on their own feet, they left the "nest". Well for Gopal, it was a good move and that is what he had always wanted, that he had educated his sons and they could take care of themselves. Well once Gopal had retired from his jobs, well he wanted to do all those things that he could not while working. So he and his wife bought a ticket on a cruise. They had never been on a cruise and were looking forward to going on it.
It was a beautiful day and the sun was shinning brightly when the day came for Gopal and his wife Radha to depart on their journey. Well Gopal was very excited but Radha as usual was worried of the house. The boys had told her not to worry about it as they will pop in once in a while taking turns to have a look at it. Well Gopal was the first to get down from the cab which had left them at port. They were going to from Penang to Phi Phi Island  followed by Phuket and then back to Penang. Well Gopal was all set for his adventure. As the old couple walked up into the huge cruise, Gopal got his tickets out. He showed to the officer in charge and was shown to his junior suite. His luggage was carried by a porter. Well as he stepped into his room and looked at the view from his room at the vast ocean , he was glad that he had come for this trip. This was his first trip after so many years of working hard and never taking a day off . However, faith had other plans for him. He was unbuttoning his shirt to take a shower before proceeding to have lunch at Deck 4 when he suddenly felt a pain in his chest. His face was turning red as  he could see it in the mirror. He started to run his hands on his chest and thought maybe it could just be poor indigestion. Well he was having a mild heart attack and his wife seeing this called the doctor on board. He was quickly taken to the sickbay and was treated by the doctor in charge. Well the doctor could do much but call in the nearest Hospital and Gopal had to be flown to the hospital. Well that was when he had another major heart attack and died on the helicopter. During the autopsy, the doctors discovered several major arteries blocked.
Gopal died and never had a chance to go for a cruise. He was a good father, husband and good worker. He was very dearly missed.
The point here is that, even though you must have heard stories of the same kind or maybe slightly different version of it but the theme and message is the same - to live your life to the fullest with the means and opportunity that you have. It is said that the best wealth to be given to your children is not of possession but of education. Let them strive to excel in their own respective fields in their own pace and manner. Do not be another Gopal in this case and never enjoyed his life and never did things which he so much wanted to do. He was always thinking of his children but in the end, he was left behind in his own life. He had certain things, certain dreams and certain desired which he could have fulfilled if he has just lived slightly longer. Birth can be determined but nobody has ever cheated death. Let it be a lesson that in life you must sometimes stop to smell the air, take the trouble to see the stars and at times just enjoy the nature by doing nothing. Do nothing is also a chore and many of us in our quest in the race have forgotten. Do not let once of these day ... be in your life, like NIKE ad goes -  JUST DO IT,  that is all for this entry and am off to get my childhood dream of getting a RC car..... :)
